BEYOND VISUALIZATION
Step Into Your Future Today
4-Minute Read
If you've done any amount of personal development work, you are already familiar with the concept of visualizing your desired outcomes. Why does it seem to work for some but not for others?
Harnessing the subconscious is the differentiator between visualization that propels your life forward and visualization that unintentionally creates more of what you don't want.
Last week we introduced the first critical skill for harnessing your subconscious: identifying outdated programs running your life. By identifying these programs, you’re finally positioned to deal with them effectively.
In this week’s issue of The Grip, we show you the next critical step for harnessing your subconscious: reprogramming it. You will learn a powerful practice to bring your subconscious brain into alignment with your conscious instructions by moving beyond “ordinary” visualization and into embodying your desired results instead.
Let’s dive in.
beyond visualization
Using The Old To Build The New
There was a practice in the ancient world to scavenge material from an old structure to build a new structure, i.e. the limestone casing on the pyramids of Giza that was used to later build The Citadel, a nearby palace fortress. The brain works in a similar fashion. As you focus your conscious attention on the new programs you wish to establish, it will automatically use the binding materials from old neural connections to form new ones.
But sometimes getting clear on what you want can be tricky. When that’s the case, use the information found in your old, outdated program to gain clarity on what you truly want instead. It is an easy way to leverage your current experience to create a vivid picture of what you want next. So don’t ignore the old program; use it!
Take note of the following:
Where does it show up in your life right now?
How does it feel in your body?
What thoughts and actions does it drive?
What conditions does it produce?
Your answers to these questions provide insight into the specific ways you’d like your life to be different tomorrow than it is today. You’ll want this information for the powerful practice we show you next.
Practicing Vivid Imagination
Your inner world commands your outer world. The thoughts, feelings, and emotions you dwell on most of the time inside will eventually materialize outside. This is why reprogramming the subconscious brain is so important—it is literally dwelling on particular thoughts, feelings, and emotions 24/7.
There are many effective protocols and tools for reprogramming the subconscious brain. Today we’re giving you one of the most powerful, yet simple and straightforward, practices we know of. It is an advanced visualization practice known as Vivid Imagination. It’s much more than generating a vision of what you want; it engages all your senses to create the felt experience of dwelling in your desired destination right now on the inside.
Jesus taught a version of it to his disciples when he said, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Imagination is the preview of coming attractions. It is your brain’s rehearsal for your future. When you vividly imagine an outcome as “complete and present” inside of you right now, you will materially express it outside of you eventually. Vivid imagination equips you to give your desired outcome shape, sound, and form even without initially knowing how to bring it about.
In fact, the process of dwelling in your desired destination “right now” is the new instruction your subconscious needs to move you in a new direction. Your job is to consciously dwell in the destination on the inside; the subconscious will then do its job to sort out how best to get you there.
One caveat—this is not law-of-attraction-fall-in-your-lap pseudoscience. The practice we’re showing you today reflects what the latest neuroscience has demonstrated about how to retrain and reprogram your brain so that it produces new actions in you which in turn produce new outcomes in your life.
“Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe you have received it, and it will be yours.”
INSTRUCTIONS
Identify an outcome you desire, giving it as much detail as possible. An outcome can be in any area of life: relationships, wealth, health, career, impact, location, etc. Allow yourself to live in the fullness of your desired outcome right now on the inside. Allow your mind AND body to experience it as already done. Engage all your senses. Imagine concrete differences in your surroundings and in how you feel that represent the materialization of your desire.
Schedule 5-15 minutes twice a day, every day to practice Vivid Imagination.
Find a quiet room or outdoor space.
Play relaxing music in the background if helpful.
Close your eyes.
Engage every physical sense with the material reality of your desired outcome being fulfilled—what is your life like in this state?
-What do you see?
-What do you hear?
-What do you smell?
-What do you taste?
-What emotions do you feel?
-How does your body feel?
Incorporate physical images, sounds, smells, etc. of your desired result to intensify your practice.
Allow yourself to dwell in what you see, hear, smell, taste, and feel for at least 5-15 minutes twice a day, every day.
From your daily practice, create a snapshot of your desired outcome that can quickly return you to the internal state of dwelling in your desired destination. Anytime you feel the old program running in your thoughts, feelings, or emotions, pull up the snapshot you created. This is a powerful way to leverage the old program as your reminder to reinforce your new instructions.
As ideas emerge for fulfilling your desired result, write them down and act on them right away. You will make mistakes as you put these ideas into action. Keep going; you’ll get better.
With practice, the sensation that your desired outcome is already fulfilled will become your steady state on the inside. When fulfillment starts to feel normal and familiar, that’s the indicator that your conscious instruction has taken hold and converted to a subconscious program. With the full capability of your subconscious now working round the clock on your behalf, the external materialization of your desired outcome will happen more easily and quickly than ever before.
Full disclosure: some of THE MOST DIFFICULT work to take on in this life is to practice Vivid Imagination consistently while your outer circumstances are screaming a different reality. It is some of the most rewarding and fruitful work to take on as well.
You really can reprogram your subconscious brain and harness it to work for you rather than against you. The work is worth it. Your results will transform, and your impact will multiply. You were made for this.
Keep creating!
May you prosper in every way!
